Is Space Context free to build with?

Yes. Test keys for the API, the CLI, the SDK and the MCP server are free and never charged: they read a real demo space. Live scans cost $1.00 each, after a first live scan that is free with a card on file.

How much does a live scan through the API cost?

$1.00 per live scan, from a prepaid balance in US dollars topped up by card from $10, with no subscription. With a card on file the first live scan is free (one per card), and adding a card charges nothing. A failed scan is refunded to the balance. Prices exclude applicable taxes.

Is reading, searching or asking about a space charged?

No. Reading, searching and asking are included: the balance is used only for live scans. Spaces scanned with the iPhone app are readable through the API, the console and MCP with the same account, at no cost.

Do iPhone app credits pay for API scans?

No. API scans are paid from the prepaid balance, never from app credits; the app is billed by Apple through the App Store.

Can an AI agent pay by itself?

Yes. An agent with a wallet can buy live credit in USDC on Base or Solana with x402, without an account, and gets a live key with its first payment. Agents paying with x402 get no free scan.
